Reflective Essay Guidelines

The reflective essay should be 500-1000 words and include the following:

  1. Reflect on Research & Sources: Clearly identify the specific topics you researched (e.g., equitable access to dental care for elderly populations). Then, analyze how library and information sources (scholarly articles, databases, etc.) directly shaped your understanding of those topics.
  2. Reflect on Impact on Practice: Explain how your research findings led to a deeper understanding of the healthcare experiences of the specific population you addressed. Then, critically evaluate how this deeper understanding will directly change or influence your approach to clinical practice and/or community health efforts.
  3. Reflect on Information Literacy Skills: Detail how your interaction with library resources, services, instruction, or a librarian consultation specifically improved your skills in finding, evaluating, or synthesizing relevant and reliable scholarly information. Give a specific example of a new strategy or skill you learned.
  4. Cite the Literature: Include in-text citations and a corresponding reference list of reliable and relevant scholarly sources that support your claims in the essay and that are formatted using a consistent citation style.
  5. Acknowledge AI Use: You can work collaboratively with AI to complete tasks when developing and writing this essay while demonstrating effective and responsible AI use. You are responsible for reviewing, modifying, and ensuring the originality and accuracy of the final product. Include a statement explaining which AI tools you used, which tasks you performed using AI, and how you revised the AI output.

This will allow you to use AI creatively while critically assessing the content it generates while maintaining ownership of the final product.

Please note that all AI large language models have a tendency to make up incorrect facts and fake citations and may perpetuate biases. You must verify the accuracy of content and citations provided by AI tools.
