Get Ready for Ostrow Research Day

The Wilson Dental Library Dr. Clifton & Lois Dummett Research Award recognizes dental students and residents at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC who:

  1. Demonstrate exemplary dental research that addresses social determinants of health, health disparities, cultural competency, cultural humility, diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or accessibility; and
  2. Show remarkable skill and creativity in the use of library resources and services. 

To be considered for this award:

  1. Your poster abstract must first be accepted to the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry Annual Research Day.
  2. You must be a student, resident, or post-doc enrolled in a Dental program at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the time of submission.
  3. Research must be completed as part of a course at USC or completed under the direction of an Ostrow Faculty Advisor.

The research must:

  1. Address social determinants of health, health disparities, cultural competency, cultural humility, diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or accessibility. 
  2. Address implications for a patient population that has been historically marginalized or underserved in society or healthcare as a result of systemic and structural inequities. 
  3. Utilize library resources, services, and/or librarians.
