Issue Accessing an eBook or Database?

Q. What to do if you get a message that "your connection is not private"

If you click on a link to access an eBook, database, journal article or other electronic resources and get an error message that says “Your connection is not private,” try one of the following:

  • Try changing to these browsers may be the easiest solution (i.e. Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc.)
  • Clear the history/cookies/cache in your browser
  • Open an incognito or private window in your browser and access the research guide again
  • try right clicking on the link in the research guide and selecting "Open Link in New Private Window", in Firefox, or "Open link in incognito window, in Google Chrome
    • A new window should open with the Shibboleth Single Sign-on page.
    • After signing in, you should be able to access the material

If none of these suggestions work, please let us know through the libraries' Ask-Us service.
