Geriatric nutrition is the application of nutrition to seniors. It applies nutrition principles to delay effects of aging and disease, to aid in the management of the physical, psychological, and psychosocial changes commonly associated with growing old. According to the National Institute on Aging, a good diet in the later part of one's life has been proven to help reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and some cancers. - Richards, L., Atkins, W.
