What is Eigenfactor?

Eigenfactor scores were developed by a mathematics research lab soon after the Journal Impact Factor was developed. Eigenfactor scores are similar to impact factor, but excludes self-citations, removing one way to manipulate scores.  Eigenfactor is similar to Impact factor in that it provides a number for a journal, ranking it within a category.
