The graphic novels and online comics in this section feature cancer patients and their families perspectives on their diagnosis and treatment of cancer as well as their interactions with the healthcare system and medical professionals. These graphic novels highlight the emotional and personal perspective on battling cancer.
Chronic Illness
The graphic novels in this section feature stories of individuals living with chronic illness and how it influences their daily lives and psyche.
COVID-19
The online comics featured here distinguish fact from fiction, provide information on how to prevent the spread of the virus, and illustrate the emotional impact of the pandemic.
Eating Disorders
The titles in this section provide insight into how people struggle with eating disorders, how they view themselves, and their condition.
Health Professionals Perspective
The titles in this section feature protagonists that work in the healthcare industry and discuss the difficulties, the successes, and the pressure.
Immigrant Experience
These graphic novels discuss the immigrant and refugee experience, which influences how people navigate society and specifically the healthcare system. Some of these titles may not directly reference healthcare, however they can provide a wider perspective on the human experience.
LGBTQ+
Titles in this section are related to the LGBTQ+ experience, including transitioning, LGBTQ+ history, and other popular titles.
Mental Health
These graphic novels feature personal perspectives and experiences related to mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, etc.
Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity or neurodiverse are terms used to describe autistic or other neurologically atypical patterns of thought or behavior. Titles in this section feature narratives about individuals with atypical neurology.
Public Health
These online comics are examples of how comics can help communicate public health information, including information on pandemics, influenza, and credible information on vaccines.
Reproductive Health & Birth
These graphic novels discuss the complexities of reproductive health, how culture and society influence norms, and women's experience with reproduction.
Graphic Medicine for Younger Readers
The titles in this section have a middle school aged target audience and may be helpful for thinking about younger perspectives on health and wellness.
