Approximately one in 10 older adults experience maltreatment each year. Given the hidden nature of elder mistreatment, most incidents are never reported, leaving many elders to live with abuse bereft of relief or remedy. Abuse in later life can be devastating, resulting in significant medical, mental health, and financial losses.
Elder abuse is prevntable, and everyone can take action to prevent elder abuse!
To recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), the National Center on Elder Abuse, housed at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, will host a booth by Tommy Trojan on Wednesday, April 9th from 11 am to 2 pm to raise elder abuse awareness and promote intergenerational solidarity.
