Publications include economic and revenue forecasts for California, a detailed review of the Governor's Budget, a summary of the budget adopted by the Legislature, and an in-depth description of the budget bill as enacted and related legislation.
The State Administrative Manual (SAM) is a reference resource for statewide policies, procedures, requirements and information developed and issued by authoring agencies which include the Governor's Office, Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Human Resources (CalHR), Department of General Services (DGS), and the California Department of Technology (CDT).
Its research areas include governmental operations, state and federal legislation and regulations, and policies issues at the state and national levels. Of most use is the Knowledge Center section, especially the subsections titled Policy Area, which contains reports on numerous topics (e.g., education, elections, public safety), and Data Center, which links to polling numbers, an unemployment tracker, and a database where one can compare how states perform in certain categories.
