USC Dataverse

A guide and resource for using Dataverse at USC.

What is a Dataverse?

A Dataverse is a container or collection that organizes and stores datasets, files, and metadata. Think of it as a folder that holds all related research data, allowing for customized organization and management.  For example, let’s say an academic group, department, or school would like to group all datasets by a certain theme or category, then a dataverse could be created. For example, an academic department would like to organize its dataset holdings, they could create a dataverse and label it, “USC - Biology Dataverse”. The assumption then is that all USC Biology faculty would use this dataverse label when updating their datasets. For most individuals, a dataverse is not needed.
