Main Applications

Genevestigator is one of the largest pre-analyzed gene expression databases in the world with over 250,000 microarray and RNA-seq datasets.  With the focus on biomedical and plant biology, this manually curated database employs sophisticated tools for data search, visualization, and analysis. 

  • Functional genomics: Use Meta-Profile Analysis to compare independent microarray experiments and explore expression patterns of user gene(s) under specific biological conditions
  • Biomarker discovery and validation: Identify genes specifically expressed in given test conditions vs. user-specified control conditions
  • Find truly-unbiased reference genes for qPCR: Ad hoc search of the most stably expressed genes in user-specified conditions
  • Gene modules and network analysis: Use Bi-clustering Analysis to identify co-expressed genes under various experimental conditions

Access Genevestigator @ USC

USC has licensed Genevestigator, bringing USC faculty, students and staff free and unlimited access.  To obtain your Genevestigator account:

  1. Carefully read the Genevestigator user policy.
  2. Complete and submit the Genevestigator registration form.   
  3. Activate your account following the link in the confirmation email sent by Genevestigator (within 2-3 days).
  4. Download the java launcher to access the software anywhere in the world.
