The USC Libraries subscribes to or purchases online content that is made available to you via the Find It @ USC button.
Below are descriptions for ensuring you always have access to this feature in a few key resources.
There are two main ways to connect PubMed to USC full-text subscriptions via the Find It button.
It is important to always use the link to PubMed provided on the Library's homepage (wdl.usc.edu). This link embeds additional information that identifies you as a USC affiliate and will link you to USC subscriptions.
For example, when you found an article of interest in PubMed and you see the red Find It @ USC button (pictured below) that means you are properly using PubMed.
If you do not see the Find It button, you will need to open a new tab in your web browser and follow the steps mentioned above to open PubMed from the library's website. Once you have done this you can either A) copy/paste the article information into this new PubMed session or B) refresh the page with your article of interest and the red Find It button should load.
If you have any issues with this process please do not hesitate to contact the Wilson Dental Library.
If you have a My NCBI account, PubMed's free individual user account, you can also update the settings so that you are accessing USC content anytime you are signed into My NCBI. This will allow you to bypass the steps described above.
Create an account or sign in to NCBI following the link on the upper right side of any PubMed page.
Once you are logged in, click "My NCBI" to update settings.
Next, select "NCBI Site Preferences"
Under the PubMed Preferences section, click the "Outside Tool" link.
Select the option for USC Health Sciences Libraries and click Save.
Now anytime you are signed in to NCBI you will be recognized as a USC affiliated user and the Find It button will always appear.
Google Scholar is a great resource for finding scholarly sources online. It allows you to link into USC Libraries subscription database content so you can search for and access content without having to go directly to the libraries' website.
To set up your Google Scholar account to include USC Libraries' "Find It @ USC" link to full-text follow these steps:
Now when you search Google Scholar, you will see a link to Find It @ USC which will direct you to the USC Libraries subscriptions to full-text articles.
