Learning Support: Prewriting

Resources for students in the Suzanne Dworak Peck School School of Social Work's MSW, MSN, and DSW programs.

Prewriting Resources

Prewriting consists of 4 steps:

1.Look at the assignment guidelines carefully
2.Brainstorm
3.Research
4.Outline
The steps are non-linear; you may, for example, look at the prompt, brainstorm, research, and then decide you need to brainstorm again. While four steps might seem time-consuming, some steps take as little as 10 minutes and can save you time when you revise later.
