A collection of rare books, manuscripts and objects created by or about beloved children’s literature author, mathematician and writer Charles Dodgson, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll.

The Liddell Books Series

A compilation of poetry submitted for the Wonderland Award at the University of Southern California, The Liddell Book of Poetry highlights verse and visual work that plays off of the works of Lewis Carroll, author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The Liddell Book series is published by the USC Libraries, and it highlights student projects submitted for the university's annual Wonderland Award over its first ten years. Named after Alice Liddell, the titular muse of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the series ensures that these creative and scholarly works are available to the world of Carroll scholars and collectors. The purpose of the Wonderland Award is to encourage inventive use of the USC Libraries' G. Edward Cassady, M.D., and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N., Lewis Carroll Collection. The Liddell Books will showcase all of the award-winning entries, as well as selected additional pieces.

An artist book created by then USC student Kelly Combs, the Liddell Book of Letters was a Wonderland Award winner at the University of Southern California.

Kelly Combs was born and raised in Seattle and decided to get out of the rain for a bit after high school, pursuing a BA in Theatre Arts at the University of Southern California and graduating in 2010. Despite her focus as an actor, she has always loved art in all its forms. She currently lives in Chicago (so much for avoiding inclement weather), where she spends her evenings building her stage career and her days teaching kids who constantly remind her that, if you let it, life can be fun.
