Titles I-J

I Am Happiness on Earth
"Emiliano looks at his life with the eyes of a film director, mixing the objective reality with the processes of the artistic creation. The story he is filming flounders with his daily life, until his world is trapped in the lens of his camera. Love, sexuality and the true self are all themes explored."

I Am Michael
"Based on the true-life story of Michael Glatze, a gay activist who becomes an anti-gay Christian pastor. Michael is a high profile gay youth activist who created a national controversy when he claimed to no longer be gay and became a straight Christian pastor. The film follows Michael from his life in San Francisco with his boyfriend Bennett--where he pursues political activism, a journalist career at XY Magazine, social awareness, and sexual exploration--to his days of personal self-discovery. After a traumatic scare, Michael is plagued by doubt and paranoia, and begins a religious reawakening. Michael renounces his gay lifestyle, rejects his friends, and endeavors to find his "true self." He explores Buddhism and Mormonism, yet ultimately lands at a Christian Bible school in rural Wyoming where he meets his girlfriend Rebekah, and becomes the pastor of his own church."

If These Walls Could Talk 2
"Set in different decades in the same house, these stories of three lesbian couples each reflect a specific concern. In 1961, Abby and Edith, two retired schoolteachers, lead a quiet life. Abby has a stroke and dies, and her nephew and his wife come for the funeral and to sort and sell Abby's things, unaware that she and Edith were a lifelong couple. In 1972, four college-age lesbians share the house. They have problems with the campus feminism group, and Linda is drawn to Amy a very butch lesbian who wears a men's clothing and drives a motorcycle. How can a feminist fall for a lesbian who acts like and dresses like a man? By 2000, long-term couple Fran and Kal want to have a child, and their quest leads from proposing sperm donation to a gay couple they know, to the horror of shopping for sperm on the Internet."

Imagine Me and You
"A blushing bride's nuptials take a surprising turn at the altar, when an innocent glance between her and a female guest sparks a love at first sight romance. She is soon forced to choose between her husband and the girl of her dreams."

In einem Jahr mit 13 Monden
"When the object of his affection off-handedly commented, 'too bad you're not a girl' Erwin disappeared to Casablanca and returned as Elvira. Now, adrift and alone amid the maze of streets of Frankfurt, Elvira revisits the people and places of his past."

L'inconnu du lac
"Franck spends his summer vacation searching for companionship and sexual encounters at a popular cruising spot on the shores of a picturesque lake in rural France. One day, he meets Michel, an attractive yet darkly mysterious man and falls blindly in love. When a death occurs, Franck and Michel become the primary suspects but they choose to ignore the dangers and instead continue to engage in their passionate and potentially lethal relationship."

Inxeba = The Wound
"Brimming with sex and violence, The Wound, is an exploration of tradition and sexuality set amid South Africa's Xhosa culture. Every year, the tribe's young men are brought to the mountains of the Eastern Cape to participate in an ancient coming-of-age ritual. Xolani, a quiet and sensitive factory worker (played by openly gay musician Nakhane Touré), is assigned to guide Kwanda, a city boy from Johannesburg sent by his father to be toughened up, through this rite of passage into manhood. As Kwanda defiantly negotiates his queer identity within this masculine environment, he quickly recognizes the nature of Xolani'e relationship with fellow guide Vija.."

The Iron Ladies = Satree-lex
"The true story of a Thai male volleyball team that competes in the national championships in 1996 with a team consisting mostly of gays, transsexuals, and transvestites."

It's All So Quiet
"A closeted gay, middle aged farmer lives with his aged and bedridden father. As his father's life begins to fade, his own gains a new momentum--but at what cost?"

J'ai tué ma mère = I Killed My Mother
"Focusing on the relationship between Hubert Minel, a 16-year-old Quebecois living in suburban Montreal, and his single mother Chantale, the film beautifully captures the anxieties of a mother-son relationship. While he gauges her with contempt, only seeing her out-of-date sweater and kitschy decor, the ingrained mechanisms (i.e. manipulation and guilt) of their relationship beautifully (and tragically) unravel on the big screen."

Jonas = Boys
"When Jonah was fourteen he met the charismatic but mysterious Nathan. In addition to guiding him in grappling with his sexuality, Jonas soon confronts something dark and even dangerous about his new friend."

Jonathan
"Jonathan is 23; he and his aunt, Martha, work on their farm. Jonathan also devotes himself to looking after his father Burghardt, who has cancer. But his father stubbornly sabotages his son₂s efforts to care for him. Jonathan finds it increasingly difficult to cope until they hire a young caretaker, Anka, to help. Jonathan and Anka fall in love; her experience of working at a hospice helps Jonathan to gain a new insight into his father's situation."
