Architectural History: Biographies and Directories

This is a primer on basic sources for researching architecture and its history.

Select Sources

The USC Libraries catalog, HOMER, lists book-length published biographies.  Search HOMER by architect's name.  Journal articles, such as those indexed in the Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, Proquest newspapers, or JSTOR, also include obituaries and biographical sources.  Below are a few examples of reference works that are biographical in nature.
