USC Libraries and Hours
Libraries
![]()
There are close to twenty separate libraries at USC, covering both campuses --- click here for a list.
The Wilson Dental Library on UPC is part of the Norris Medical Library on HSC; UPC users can access materials in both libraries.
The Call Law Library is a separate entity, but some materials may be available to non-law students and faculty; check at that library.
The Leavey Library is open 24/7 six days/week during the fall and spring semesters, and could be a good first-source library for Writing 140, as the print collection includes many general college-level texts on all subjects, as well as a large Information Commons with public use computers and group study rooms available. Click here to see Leavey on the USC Map.
Hours

The open hours for all our libraries are listed here.
The list also includes exceptions; for example on some USC holidays only Leavey is open.

About This LibGuide
This Library Research Guide (LibGuide) provides some basic information on USC Libraries' resources and services to assist Writing 140 students* in their research papers for the course and the related Social Issues course.
The guide has links to core resources you will likely need for your research, so they are all in one easy place.
Note that on some pages and boxes you will get more information if you hover your mouse over a title.
Feel free to come back to this guide any time to brush up on your skills and to find links to useful resources especially for Freshmen and Sophmore level research.
The Libraries' goals for students in Writing 140 and related library information literacy instruction sessions are on the Feedback tab of this guide.
* And others interested in learning the foundations of library research!
(Note: linkages are made throughout this guide to the Association of College & Research Libraries' Information Literacy Competency Standards and related performance indicators and outcomes. For a brief overview of the Standards, see our local Research Guide: http://libguides.usc.edu/acrl-il)
